Black & Decker Spacemaker Under-the-Counter Can Opener

Worst can opener I have ever owned!!!
Bought this to replace a cheap Rivan can opener that had a broken lid-retaining magnet. Biggest mistake. It routinely drops cans - even light ones like soup and mushrooms. Difficult to attach the can to it - and even harder to clean. Aviod this model at all costs.

Not a jack of all trades, but a master of one.
Where's my Ipod plug in?
Far too often today's machines are called upon to offer much more than the single purpose originally desired. Usually, as with all overly-ambitious attempts at designing these multi-tasking devices, compromises are made. Now, unless you missed Communications Skills 101, you know a compromise is a lose-lose solution, not a win-win, as both parties agree to give up something in order to reach an agreement. Whether man or machine, this canon perseveres despit our developing a tendency to hedge our every bet.

Old school is sometimes still the best school.
Unfortunately, this discovery is often made only after we've burned down the old one and replaced it with a "new and improved" version. Some consumers just refuse to catch on that "new and improved" is "advertiser speak" for "You NEED to buy a new one. Yours is OLD [beside, we've already spent all the money you paid us for that one]". I never cared for John B. Watson and I doubt he...

Worked Great For Years
I bought one of these twenty years ago and it took this long for it to finally stop working. I find it easy to insert the cans. It works great if you follow the directions. It's not made to support the cans you must cradle the can as it goes around. Cleaning is simple because the blade and all pops out so you can stick them in the dishwasher or the sink. It's a good buy.
